Dow Hits Record High as Investors Watch Fed Minutes and Jobs Data
Wall Street outlook tracks record highs as investors weigh rates and yields Federal Reserve minutes, jobs data and earnings could drive the next market move
Wall Street entered the first full week of July with the Dow Jones Industrial Average at a record high and major indexes on track for a strong week. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also posted solid gains, capping one of the market’s strongest second quarters in years.
Investors are now focused on interest rates, Treasury yields, and the Federal Reserve’s latest minutes. Markets are trying to gauge the next move from the central bank under Chairman Kevin Warsh, who kept rates unchanged at his first meeting and said inflation remains too high.
A weakerthanexpected June jobs report also drew attention, with the U.S. adding 57,000 positions versus economists’ expectations. That data helped push shorterterm yields lower, though stocks later gave back some of their early gains. The week ahead includes servicesector data, trade figures, FOMC minutes, jobless claims, and earnings from PepsiCo and Delta Air Lines.
