A man has been charged with seconddegree murder and indignity to human remains in connection with the death of a 65yearold woman on Vancouver Island, police said.
Nanaimo RCMP said Cameron Compton was arrested Monday after a monthslong investigation that began in late 2025, when Sherry Shelley was reported missing. Police said her body was found after a vehicle fire, which led investigators to open a homicide case.
Authorities have not released further details about the investigation. Compton remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
