What’s open and closed in Toronto over the 2026 August long weekend

Toronto will see holiday changes this August long weekend, including adjusted transit schedules, shorter store hours at some retailers and several road closures tied to festivals and events. The TTC will run regular service on Saturday and Sunday, then switch to a holiday schedule on Monday. GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, and Metrolinx says $10 holiday passes are available for unlimited travel that day. Most grocery stores will stay open, though some will reduce hours on Monday. St. Lawrence Market will be closed Monday. Drug stores, some LCBO and Beer Store locations, and several malls will also operate on reduced holiday hours. Most attractions will remain open, but the Museum of Contemporary Art and Fort York National Historic Site will be closed. The city will also host major events, including the Caribbean Carnival, Veld, the Toronto Food Truck Festival and the National Bank Open. Drivers should expect road closures around Exhibition Place and nearby routes during the Carnival weekend.
