Two people died after a vehicle crashed into a gym in Laval, Quebec, following a police attempt to stop it early Wednesday morning. Laval police said officers tried to pull over the car around 1:20 a.m. because it was travelling without a licence plate. The driver fled, and police ended the interception attempt after the vehicle sped away on des Laurentides Boulevard. The car later struck Atlantis Gym. The driver was found dead at the scene, and a 19yearold passenger died in hospital. A second 19yearold passenger remains in critical condition. Police said the road was closed in both directions while investigators worked at the scene, and Quebec’s police watchdog said it will not investigate the crash.
