Vancouver Canucks rebuild starts with Manny Malhotra, energy and accountability Follow the new coaching vision and see how youth, mindset and consistency shape it

Manny Malhotra spoke to reporters in Vancouver for the first time since being named head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. He said the team’s rebuild will depend on energy, body language, mindset, and consistency. Malhotra takes over after the Canucks finished last in the NHL in the 20252026 season and reshaped their roster with a younger group. He said the coaching staff will focus on daily progress, clear communication, and accountability as the club tries to establish a new foundation. Before the promotion, Malhotra coached the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL, leading them to the 20242025 Calder Cup title. He also has past ties to Vancouver as a former player and will now work with general manager Ryan Johnson, who was also promoted from Abbotsford.
