Toronto gang case links police search to Ryan Wedding cocaine network

Newly unsealed court documents show how a 2024 police encounter near a funeral in Vaughan, Ontario, led investigators to evidence later used in the case against alleged drug trafficker Ryan Wedding and his associates. Police said they approached a stolen SUV outside the funeral of an alleged gang member and found Malik Damion Cunningham inside. Cunningham is accused by U.S. prosecutors of being hired, armed and trained by Wedding's alleged transnational cocaine network. Officers later seized phones, ammunition and a large amount of cash, and investigators say one device contained encrypted messages tied to Wedding's alleged secondincommand, Andrew Clark. The documents also connect the stop to the April 2024 killing of Randy Fader in Niagara Falls, where Cunningham is charged with murder. Prosecutors allege Wedding's network used contract killers to target rivals across North America. Cunningham remains in custody in Ontario while fighting extradition to the United States, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
