Teen driver, 2 motorcycle riders die after Ontario collision

A teenage driver and two motorcyclists died after a multivehicle crash in the Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario, police said. Ontario Provincial Police and emergency crews were called around 6 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road in Omemee after reports of a serious collision involving four motorcycles and a passenger vehicle. Police said the driver of the vehicle, an 18yearold from Peterborough, and a 72yearold motorcycle rider from Dunchurch died at the scene. A 65yearold rider from Barrie was taken by air ambulance to a Torontoarea trauma centre, where he later died. Another rider, a 30yearold man from Sudbury, was taken to hospital and later transferred to a trauma centre. A fourth rider, a 36yearold from Sudbury, was treated at the scene and released. The OPP technical collision investigation unit is assisting with the case, and investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP.
