Blue Jays' Springer leaves game after being hit on injured foot
George Springer injury update: no new fracture after a left-foot hit-by-pitch Get the latest on his status, recovery timeline, and what it means for Toronto
Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer exited Saturday’s 114 win over the Minnesota Twins in the third inning after being hit by a pitch on his left foot.
The injury came only four days after Springer returned from the injured list following a broken left big toe sustained in an earlier game against Minnesota on April 11. Manager John Schneider said Xrays showed no new fracture and that the foot was not worse than before.
Springer was struck by an 88 mph slider from Connor Prielipp, then left the field after being checked by trainers. Jesus Sanchez replaced him. The 36yearold is batting .212 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 18 games this season.
