Two men identified after fatal shooting at Toronto street festival

Toronto police have identified two men who were killed in a shooting at the Salsa on St. Clair festival in Toronto on Saturday night. The victims were Shaquan Quashie, 25, and Cesar Vernaza, 20.
Police said the shooting appeared targeted and happened near St. Clair Avenue and Arlington Avenue. One man died at the scene and the other later died in hospital. Five additional people were injured, though police said their injuries were not lifethreatening.
Investigators said they recovered two firearms at the scene and do not currently have suspect information. The festival’s second day was cancelled while police continued their investigation. A vigil was held Monday night nearby, where community members gathered to remember the victims and call for peace.
