Samsung expands employee access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex

Samsung Electronics is broadening employee access to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, extending the tools across its Korea operations and global Device eXperience division. The company says the rollout will support both technical and nontechnical teams in work such as software development, marketing, product planning, manufacturing, document drafting, research, and data analysis. The move follows Samsung’s earlier restrictions on generative AI tools, which were introduced in 2023 after concerns that sensitive company data could be shared with external platforms. Samsung is now using an enterprise version of ChatGPT that includes data protection, access controls, and security management features intended for corporate use. OpenAI said Codex will be used for coding tasks as well as internal tools, prototypes, and automated workflows. The companies also noted broader ties in Korea, including Samsung’s work on AI infrastructure and enterprise services, alongside other local partnerships OpenAI has announced in the market.
