Toronto man found guilty in 2023 home invasion and vehicle theft spree

Toronto home invasions verdict: man convicted in GTA luxury vehicle theft spree See how police tracking and surveillance tied him to 23 counts in court

A Toronto man has been found guilty in connection with a twoweek series of home invasions, attempted breakins and thefts of highend vehicles in the Greater Toronto Area in October 2023. Superior Court Justice Gillian Roberts convicted Bilal Abdelmouniim, 22, on all 23 counts after a weeklong trial. The court heard that the offences took place between Oct. 5 and Oct. 18, often in the early morning hours, and involved homes where luxury vehicles were parked in driveways. In several cases, the court said the intruders broke windows or used a concrete block to enter homes, sometimes while residents and children were asleep. Police also used surveillance footage and tracking devices tied to stolen vehicles as part of the investigation. Abdelmouniim’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for January, and he is also set to stand trial next month in relation to another alleged series of home invasions from 2024.
