B.C. election campaign begins with health care focus
BC election campaign starts with party plans on health care, recruitment, and leadership moves as NDP, Greens, and Conservatives set their early priorities.
The first full day of British Columbia’s 2026 election campaign saw all major parties move quickly to set out their early messages and priorities.
BC NDP Leader David Eby was in Surrey, where he said the party would expand its campaign to recruit healthcare workers from the United States and offer incentives for Canadian professionals working in the U.S. to return to B.C. The NDP said the effort would reach into Republicanled states and highlight public health care as an alternative to private systems.
The BC Greens also outlined their campaign plans, with leader Emily Lowan announcing she will run in Saanich North and the Islands. CentreBC said former Green leader Andrew Weaver will run in Oak BayGordon Head, while the BC Conservatives gathered in Vancouver to present a united front under interim leader Lorne Doerkson.
