Boeser says Pettersson appears re-energized ahead of Canucks camp
Elias Pettersson looks sharper as the Canucks enter camp with new leadership. See why Brock Boeser believes a reset could spark Vancouver's top scorer.
LAS VEGAS — Vancouver Canucks winger Brock Boeser says teammate Elias Pettersson looks more focused and upbeat as the team heads toward training camp next week.
Speaking at the NHL/NHLPA player media tour, Boeser said Pettersson seems to be in a better mindset after two difficult seasons marked by injuries, a decline in production and reported tension within the locker room.
Pettersson, who signed an eightyear contract after his breakout 2023 season, has seen his scoring drop since then. Vancouver also went through major changes this offseason, including new leadership in hockey operations and a new head coach. Boeser said the fresh start could help Pettersson reset and contribute again, while also noting his own role as a veteran leader on a younger roster.
