Canada launches new digital transformation agency
Digital Transformation Canada modernizes government services with AI, security and efficiency See how the new agency cuts duplication, supports Canadian tech and speeds service delivery
Ottawa has created a new federal agency called Digital Transformation Canada to improve how Canadians access government services and to modernize how the government uses technology.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the agency will focus on scaling digital tools, including artificial intelligence, across government to cut duplication, lower operating costs and improve security and digital sovereignty. The agency will also work to reduce administrative burden for public servants and make service delivery more efficient.
Patrick Pichette has been named chief executive officer of the new organization. The government said the agency will also use federal purchasing power to support Canadian digital and AI companies as they test, scale and commercialize new technologies. It will operate under Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement Joël Lightbound and bring together parts of several federal departments.
