Polimill builds Japan's next-generation public AI infrastructure

QommonsAI helps Japanese municipalities streamline daily work with secure AI tools Used by 1,050 cities, it boosts efficiency and speeds public service response

Polimill has built QommonsAI, a publicsector AI platform powered by OpenAI technology, to support municipalities across Japan and improve how local governments handle daily work. The company says the system is now used by about 1,050 municipalities and roughly 550,000 public employees. QommonsAI helps with tasks such as assembly responses, public services, social welfare, and legal search, and Polimill says it is evolving into a shared operating platform for municipal work. To make generative AI usable in government, Polimill standardized assembly minutes and other administrative records into a searchable knowledge base across municipalities. The company also uses GPT models for secure, policybased operations and Codex to speed up development, which it says has increased its engineering pace by 3 to 5 times. Polimill plans to expand Qommons ONE in fall 2026 as a marketplace for municipal applications, with the longerterm goal of using AI to improve public services and help officials spend more time listening to citizens.
