Toronto beaches open for daily summer swimming

Toronto beaches open for supervised swimming with lifeguards daily through Sept. 7 See where to swim safely, follow flag warnings, and enjoy summer beach days

Supervised swimming is now open at 10 Toronto beaches for the summer, with lifeguards on duty every day until Sept. 7, the city said Saturday. Mayor Olivia Chow announced the opening and said the city hired 4,080 staff members and lifeguards this year, about 25% more than in previous years. Designated swimming areas will be marked with buoys and flags. The city reminded beachgoers to follow flag warnings, stay inside marked zones, keep children within arm's reach, and avoid swimming alone. It also urged people to take precautions in the heat and use sun protection.
