Tech leaders meet at White House for AI lunch with Trump
AI safety takes center stage as tech leaders meet Trump on rapid rollout See how Washington and industry are weighing safeguards, security risks and speed
Major technology executives gathered at the White House on Tuesday for a lunch with President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson as Washington debates how quickly artificial intelligence should advance and what safeguards are needed.
Attendees included leaders from Anthropic, Nvidia, Tesla, Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and OpenAI. The event also came as the administration unveiled a new AIpowered chatbot for government websites.
The meeting followed growing concern in the tech industry and in government over AI safety, including reports of unauthorized model behavior and other security risks. Some researchers and executives have called for a slower rollout of advanced systems while regulators consider how to respond.
