Montreal police say wanted sex offender Mario Charette, 65, was arrested Friday night in SaintJérôme, Quebec, about 45 kilometres northwest of Montreal.
The arrest followed an investigation by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal's Sex Offender Monitoring Team after police asked the public on Wednesday for help locating him. Authorities said he had allegedly violated supervision conditions set by Correctional Service Canada.
Police thanked members of the public whose information helped lead to his location. They also said Charette is now being held by Correctional Service Canada.
