Man arrested in B.C. park graffiti memorial case
Graffiti memorial at Golden Ears Park leads to arrest in Maple Ridge Police are still investigating; see what happened and what charges may follow
A man accused of spraying a graffiti memorial on rocks at a park in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland has turned himself in to police.
Maple Ridge RCMP said the man was arrested last week after he came to police, and he has since been released pending a court appearance.
The case followed a social media video showing red paint on boulders at Golden Ears Park, dated Aug. 4. BC Parks described the graffiti as a misguided tribute, which appeared a day after a man drowned in the creek’s Lower Fall area. Police said the investigation is still ongoing, including possible Criminal Code issues and potential provincial Park Act violations, and asked the public not to jump to conclusions.
