A Salmon Arm, B.C., man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail, to be served on weekends, after repeatedly posting about his exwife, her partner, lawyers and judges in violation of court orders.
Court documents identify him as R.J. to protect the identities of his exwife and children. A judge in Kelowna said he had been given multiple chances to stop the posts during longrunning family court proceedings tied to his divorce.
The court also imposed more than $100,000 in fines, with a chance to reduce the penalty if the posts were removed. Justice Richard Hewson said the online activity amounted to a prolonged campaign against the courts and described many of the posts as abusive and demeaning.
