Crypto PAC spending could rise after CLARITY vote failure
Crypto PAC spending could surge after the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate Fairshake and allies may target 2026 races, raising stakes for crypto critics
The US Senate’s failure to advance the CLARITY Act has raised the likelihood that cryptoaligned political groups will increase spending in the 2026 midterm races. The vote, which fell short last week, made passage of the digital asset market structure bill less likely before the next Congress begins.
Industrybacked PACs, including Fairshake, are already positioning for key Senate contests. Fairshake, which has support from Coinbase and Ripple Labs, plans to spend $30 million against Ohio Senate candidate Sherrod Brown, a longtime critic of crypto policy.
Advocacy groups such as Stand With Crypto say lawmakers who opposed the bill may face electoral consequences. As of Monday, however, federal filings had not shown new postvote spending from Fairshake or other cryptoaligned PACs such as Fellowship and the Digital Freedom Fund.
