Toronto police open community safety hub at Dufferin Mall
Toronto police open Dufferin Mall safety hub for crime prevention and support Talk with local officers on theft, scams and safety, with trusted community help
Toronto police have opened a new community safety hub at Dufferin Mall in the city's west end, marking the fourth such site in Toronto. The hub is intended to give residents a welcoming place to speak with officers about safety concerns and local issues.
Police said the space will focus on crime prevention, retail theft, fraud and scam awareness, youth and senior safety, personal safety, and referrals to community resources. Deputy Chief Lauren Pogue said the goal is to strengthen trust through a more local approach to policing.
Officials said the hub will be staffed by neighbourhood officers from Dufferin Grove and other members of 11 Division, but it will not operate 24/7 and will not serve as a reporting location. Police also pointed to reductions in certain crimes at other mallbased hubs, including lower auto theft and robbery counts at Fairview Mall and Shops at Don Mills.
