Nvidia to invest up to $3.2 billion in Corning for AI fiber plants
Nvidia and Corning boost AI optical technology with a $3.2B partnership New U.S. plants could cut power use and speed data transfer—see what’s next
Nvidia plans to invest up to $3.2 billion in Corning as part of a multiyear partnership centered on optical technology for AI infrastructure. The companies said Corning will open three new advanced manufacturing plants in North Carolina and Texas dedicated to producing optical components for Nvidia.
The deal is expected to create at least 3,000 jobs and expand Corning’s U.S. optical manufacturing capacity by tenfold, according to the companies’ announcement. Corning did not disclose the full financial terms of the partnership.
The agreement comes as AI data centers look for faster and more energyefficient ways to move data. Nvidia is expected to use Corning’s fiberoptic technology to reduce reliance on copper in future rackscale systems, a shift analysts say could support higherspeed connections and lower power use.
