An 18yearold Toronto man has been charged in connection with shots fired at the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto in March, according to a court document. Police say Sheldon TracyStewart was arrested on Thursday and faces 11 charges related to the incident.
The charges include discharging a firearm at the consulate on University Avenue, as well as allegations involving a stolen vehicle, illegal firearms, and other offences. No one was injured in the shooting, which the RCMP previously described as a national security incident.
The arrest came on the same day Toronto police officer Const. Marc Pinizzotto died after being shot during a search warrant operation tied, in part, to the consulate investigation. Police have also said a separate 19yearold man is expected to be charged with firstdegree murder in that case.
