Ottawa police warn of day parole release for convicted sex offender

Ottawa police are warning residents about Christopher Roulston, 46, who was released on day parole on Wednesday and is now living in a supervised community facility in Ottawa. Police say Roulston was convicted in Toronto of three counts of sexual assault with a weapon and uttering threats, and was later designated a dangerous offender. He is serving an indeterminate sentence and, according to police, remains a significant risk to public safety, especially for women. Authorities say he is being monitored by the Correctional Service of Canada and Ottawa Police Service’s HighRisk Offender Management Unit. His conditions include a curfew, limits on alcohol and drug use, restrictions on work, and a ban on contacting the victims. Police are asking the public not to approach him if they suspect a breach and to contact authorities instead.
