What’s open and closed in Toronto on Canada Day

Toronto is marking Canada Day on Wednesday with fireworks, outdoor events and indoor attractions, as the city faces an orangelevel heat warning and a forecast high of 35 C that could feel closer to 45 with humidex. The city has scheduled celebrations across Toronto, including fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park at 10 p.m. and additional displays at several parks and public spaces. Family programming is planned at Nathan Phillips Square, Thomson Memorial Park, Amesbury Park, Stan Wadlow Park and Mel Lastman Square. Some events also include live music, food vendors, kids’ activities and FIFA World Cup 2026related programming. Several major attractions and museums will be open, including the AGO, Royal Ontario Museum, CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, Aga Khan Museum, Casa Loma, Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto Zoo and select Toronto History Museums. Cityrun splash pads, wading pools and outdoor pools will also operate on summer schedules. Transit will run on holiday schedules, with TTC service on Sunday hours and GO Transit on a Saturday schedule. Some services and destinations will be closed, including St. Lawrence Market, all Toronto Public Library branches, Canada Post, LCBO stores and most government offices. Several malls will also be closed, while others will stay open with adjusted holiday hours.
