A Kingston, Ontario man is facing charges after police in Gananoque alleged that a water truck was taking water from fire hydrants without authorization.
Police said complaints about unusual water use were reported on June 4 and June 5. About a week later, utility staff noticed a water pull, and officers on patrol located a suspect vehicle and arrested the driver.
The 44yearold man has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Town officials said the incident has not caused any known disruption to water service or fire response, and the investigation is continuing.
