Peel police shooting probe after Mississauga officer targeted by gunfire Brampton man faces firearm charges as investigators continue the case
Peel Regional Police say a 24yearold man from Brampton is in custody after an officer was shot at in Mississauga on Sunday morning.
Police said officers were in the area of Torbram Road and Lucknow Drive when they saw a suspicious man leaving a nearby business. After the man fled on foot, police said he pulled out a firearm and fired several shots toward an officer.
The officer was not hit and was not injured. Peel police said two other officers suffered minor injuries during the response. The suspect was taken to hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries before being placed in custody.
Police also said the man was subject to multiple firearm prohibitions tied to earlier convictions. He has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm. The investigation is ongoing.
