Omio expands travel development with OpenAI models

Omio says it is using OpenAI models across its engineering work to speed up travel product development and improve booking tools. The company connects with more than 3,000 transport providers in 47 countries and is redesigning internal processes around AI rather than adding it on top of older workflows.
According to CTO Tomas Vocetka, Omio started by giving employees access to ChatGPT, then embedded OpenAI Codex into software development tasks. Engineers use it for research, planning, coding, testing, code reviews, and maintenance, while the company also builds internal connectors to link proprietary data systems to these tools.
Omio says the approach has reduced the effort needed to build some products and shortened delivery timelines. The company also uses OpenAI models in its conversational travel booking interface, which handles naturallanguage trip searches using live pricing and availability data for trains, buses, ferries, and flights. Omio says human teams remain responsible for final decisions and code changes.
