Shania Twain biopic is underway at Sony, with Twain co-producing the film Get the latest on the Shania movie, her life story, and upcoming album buzz
Sony Pictures is developing a biopic about Canadian countrypop star Shania Twain, with Twain set to coproduce the film. The project, titled Shania, will be written and directed by filmmaker Leah McKendrick, whose previous work includes Scrambled and the upcoming Netflix romcom Voicemails for Isabelle.
Details about casting, the release date, and which parts of Twain’s life will be covered have not yet been announced. Twain’s story spans her rise from childhood poverty in Timmins, Ontario, to becoming one of the bestselling artists in country music history.
The film arrives ahead of Twain’s seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, which is scheduled for release on July 24. Sony has also backed other music biopics in recent years, including Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
