Lawyers have delivered opening arguments in the trial of Luciano Frattolin, a Montreal man accused of killing his nineyearold daughter during a 2025 trip to New York.
Frattolin is charged with seconddegree murder and concealment of a human corpse in the death of Melina Frattolin. He has pleaded not guilty and has been held without bail since his arrest in July 2025.
According to New York State Police, investigators found inconsistencies in Frattolin’s account after he reported his daughter had been abducted. The child’s body was later found in a wooded area near Ticonderoga, New York. The girl’s mother is expected to be among the witnesses in the case, while the defence says police overlooked evidence after the abduction report.
