World Cup viewership remained bipartisan, CNBC survey finds
World Cup viewership cut across party lines despite Trump’s visible role in CNNBC survey shows broad U.S. interest by income and education—see the full poll
A CNBC AllAmerica Economic Survey found that World Cup viewership in the U.S. cut across party lines even as President Donald Trump played a visible role in the tournament.
The poll, conducted from July 8 to July 12, showed that 49% of registered voters watched at least some of the World Cup. That included 51% of Democrats, 47% of Republicans and 47% of independents.
The survey found only a small partisan gap in viewership, smaller than the divides seen in voters’ favorite sports. Differences were more pronounced by income and education, with higherincome and more educated voters more likely to watch. The results suggest the tournament drew broad interest despite Trump’s involvement in related events and ceremonies.
