Toronto man faces sentencing in fatal speeding crash
Dangerous driving sentencing in Mississauga after a deadly crash that killed Carlos Dinis Prosecutors seek five years as family describes loss and a judge weighs December ruling
A Toronto man is facing sentencing after a jury found him guilty of dangerous driving causing death in a crash that killed 59yearold Carlos Dinis.
Crown prosecutors are seeking a fiveyear prison term for 28yearold Shabari Tull, saying he was driving 156 km/h in a 50 km/h zone when he struck Dinis in a residential area in Mississauga. The court heard that Dinis was leaving his street near Burnhamthorpe Road when the collision happened.
During the sentencing hearing, Dinis’ family described the impact of his death and said Tull has shown no remorse. The defence argued that Tull was reacting to another driver and should receive a conditional sentence instead. A judge is expected to deliver the sentence in December.
