RCMP in Quebec say 16 people have been charged following a cocaine trafficking investigation that began in 2022, with one suspect still wanted abroad.
Police say the case, known as Project Chrome, involved the RCMP’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, its Money Laundering Investigative Team and support from the Canada Revenue Agency. Investigators identified six buildings tied to the alleged criminal group, and restraint orders have been placed on those properties.
RCMP say the value of property and drugs seized is more than $9 million, including 14 kilograms of cocaine and over $145,000 in cash. The accused include people from Montreal, SainteJulienne, Blainville and Gatineau, and several are believed to be linked to the LopezOliverio family. A court appearance is expected Tuesday for 15 of the accused.
