Bristol Myers Squibb buys Nvidia AI system for drug discovery

Bristol Myers Squibb boosts AI drug discovery with Nvidia DGX SuperPOD Expand model training, speed predictions, and unlock richer research insights

Bristol Myers Squibb said it is buying an Nvidia DGX SuperPOD based on the company’s Vera Rubin architecture to expand its use of AI in drug discovery and development. The system will be used to train proprietary models and run predictions across research work involving compounds, proteins, and other scientific data. The pharmaceutical company said it will be the first life sciences group to acquire a DGX SuperPOD built on Vera Rubin. Financial terms were not disclosed. BMS said the new cluster will add capacity to its existing Nvidia setup and give more researchers access to computing resources across its global research sites. BMS said AI is already used in target identification, lead optimisation, largemolecule prediction, and internal model development. Executives said the added compute should help scientists evaluate more candidates earlier in the process, shorten some research timelines, and support work on small molecules, large molecules, clinical research, and digitaltwin applications. Nvidia’s BioNeMo tools will also be available for tasks such as proteinstructure prediction, molecular generation, docking, and genomics.
