Motorcyclist dies in collision in Montérégie, Quebec

Quebec motorcycle crash on Route 340 leaves one rider dead and another hurt. Police say the westbound convoy collision closed the road as investigators probe.

A motorcyclist in his 50s died Friday morning in a collision on Route 340 in SaintTélesphore, Que., about 76 kilometres west of Montreal. According to the Sûreté du Québec, another motorcyclist in her 30s lost control of her bike for an unknown reason and struck his motorcycle. She was taken to hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries. Police said the riders were part of a westbound convoy, but it was not immediately clear whether they were travelling as an organized group, friends or family. Route 340 was closed in the area while investigators examined the scene. Authorities said the death was the 16th on Quebec roads since the start of the province’s construction holiday.
