SenseTime launches Galaxy Project to expand domestic AI chip infrastructure

SenseTime has introduced the Galaxy Project in China, bringing together nearly 20 partners to support the scaleup of domestic AI chip infrastructure. The company says the effort is designed to connect chip technology, ecosystem partnerships, and commercial deployment for local computing power. At the launch, SenseTime also announced a space computing agreement with Guoxing Aerospace and a research partnership with five institutions, including the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. The company said these initiatives are aimed at scientific computing and broader AI infrastructure use cases. SenseTime outlined several performance and expansion targets, including higher token throughput, improved energy efficiency, and new computing sites in Shanghai, Yancheng, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia. Many of the company’s claims have not been independently verified, and several longerterm goals, such as satellitebased computing, remain far from proven at scale.
