Warsh adds two Fed advisers as he reshapes policy review

Federal Reserve review taps advisers to assess policy, data and inflation See how Warsh's new task forces could shape the Fed's next moves.

Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh has appointed two more advisers as part of his effort to review how the central bank evaluates the economy and sets monetary policy. The new advisers are economists Daniel Covitz and Eric Engstrom, both longtime Fed staffers. Covitz is a deputy director in the research and statistics division, while Engstrom is an associate director in monetary affairs. The moves come shortly after Warsh announced five task forces focused on areas including communication, data, inflation, technology, and the Fed’s balance sheet. The appointments suggest he plans to lean heavily on internal expertise while he examines possible changes at the central bank.
