OPP officer charged after North York traffic stop

An Ontario Provincial Police officer has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon after an investigation into an onduty traffic stop in North York earlier this year. According to OPP, the incident took place on Jan. 2 on Yonge Street, where an officer in an unmarked cruiser stopped a vehicle. Police said a conducted energy weapon was used during the stop, and the driver was later arrested on Highway Traffic Act charges and taken to hospital for assessment. The OPP Professional Standards Unit investigated the incident. Kevin Noh, 35, of Richmond Hill, a provincial constable with nine years of service, has been placed on administrative duties and is scheduled to appear in Toronto court on Oct. 2.
