B.C. election candidates finalized ahead of snap vote

B.C. election 2026 candidate list is set, with 355 contenders across the province See party totals, key ridings and vote-splitting risks before advance voting begins

Elections B.C. has finalized the candidate list for the province’s 2026 snap election after nominations closed on Saturday, Oct. 3. A total of 355 candidates are running across British Columbia, including 340 affiliated with 10 political parties and 15 independent or unaffiliated candidates. The B.C. Conservatives have nominated candidates in all 93 ridings, while the B.C. NDP is fielding 92 candidates after missing one nomination in Peace River North. Other major party totals include 73 candidates for the B.C. Greens, 35 for CentreBC and 33 for OneBC. Political observers say the race could hinge on how smaller parties affect vote splitting in key ridings. Advance voting is scheduled for Oct. 16 to Oct. 21, and election day is Oct. 24.
