U.S. stocks moved sharply at midday on Monday, with several technology, aerospace, and consumer names reacting to company updates and earnings news.
Advanced Micro Devices rose after Microsoft said it would offer AMD’s Heliosbased system on Azure, while Iren jumped after lifting its yearend AI cloud revenue target and reporting new multiyear contracts. Archer Aviation climbed after unveiling an autonomous vertical takeoff and landing aircraft developed with Anduril, and Alibaba gained after previewing a new artificial intelligence model.
Other movers included movie theater operators IMAX, AMC Entertainment, and Cinemark, which rose on strong box office results for "The Odyssey" and AMC’s secondquarter update. By contrast, Sweetgreen and Cava fell as the FDA continued investigating a cyclospora outbreak, while SpaceX shares slipped after the company set its next Starship launch attempt for Thursday.
