Trump says Iran violated ceasefire after Strait of Hormuz drone attack

President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran had violated a ceasefire agreement with the United States after drones were launched at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He said one of the drones hit a cargo vessel off the coast of Oman. Trump said there could be consequences, but did not say what action the U.S. might take. In remarks at the White House, he said he was unhappy about the attack and suggested Iran should not have carried it out. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran fired at least four attack drones at ships in the strait and that U.S. forces shot down three of them. He called the incident a violation of the ceasefire. The International Maritime Organization later said it was pausing evacuation efforts for ships and seafarers in the area while safety conditions were reassessed.
