Roger Marshall Denies Report on Patient Debt Lawsuits as Political Attack
Roger Marshall faces scrutiny over unpaid medical bills and collection lawsuits See what the Kansas senator says about the NYT report and his defense
Republican Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas is facing scrutiny after a New York Times report described hundreds of lawsuits tied to unpaid medical bills from patients of his former OBGYN practice.
Marshall told Fox News Digital that the report was a politically motivated attack linked to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and argued that his office followed standard billing and collection procedures. He said he had little involvement once accounts were sent to outside collection agencies.
The report comes as Marshall seeks reelection in Kansas against Democrat Adam Hamilton. Hamilton’s campaign said Marshall’s own lawyer sought an 18% interest rate and allowed aggressive debtcollection actions, while Marshall defended the practices as routine and said the story misrepresented what happened.
