Rain and thunderstorms possible in Toronto ahead of World Cup opener

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson said a cold front moving through the Greater Toronto Area could bring showers and thunderstorms, though the heaviest rain is expected to clear before the 3 p.m. match start. Some lingering showers may still remain when the game begins. The forecast calls for a high of 29 C, above seasonal norms, along with humid conditions. Coulson said cooler and drier air should move in later Friday evening, and anyone hearing thunder should seek indoor shelter and wait at least 30 minutes after the last rumble before going back outside.
