New York City announces $131 million DoorDash settlement over driver pay
DoorDash settlement brings $131.5M to NYC delivery workers Some drivers may get up to $5,000—see how the payout works
New York City has announced a $131.5 million settlement with DoorDash after city regulators said the company underpaid delivery workers by failing to account for all hours worked. Mayor Zohran Mamdani said most of the money will go to drivers, with some workers expected to receive up to $5,000.
According to the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, the settlement also requires DoorDash to improve payrecord handling and provide payment data to the city for the next three years. The city said the arrangement is intended to help workers better understand how pay is calculated and to increase oversight of delivery platform practices.
DoorDash said the underpayments were not intentional and apologized to workers, while Mamdani argued the issue reflected broader problems in how the company managed driver time and pay. The settlement is described by the city as one of the largest ever secured for food delivery workers.
