Canada Soccer to receive $9.8M in federal funding for training facility

Canada Soccer training centre gets $9.8M in federal funding See how the planned facility could boost athletes and leave a World Cup legacy

Canada Soccer says the federal government has committed $9.8 million for a new National Training Centre, according to an announcement made Friday. The funding will come through the Build Communities Strong Fund, a federal program launched in April to support public infrastructure projects. Secretary of State for Sport Adam van Koeverden said the investment is intended to help create a highlevel facility where athletes can train and represent Canada. The project is still in an early stage. Canada Soccer said it received 18 submissions during its requestforinformation process and plans to launch a formal request for proposals within the next two months. The announcement also comes as Vancouver and other host cities prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the training centre described as a potential legacy project.
