Fatal Motorcycle Crash Closes Sea-to-Sky Highway Overnight

A fatal motorcycle crash shut down British Columbia’s SeatoSky Highway for several hours on Sunday evening, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded until the road reopened early Monday.
Police said the collision happened near Deeks Creek Bridge, north of Horseshoe Bay, around 5:30 p.m. PT. One woman died at the scene after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a recreational vehicle. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. and the coroner are both investigating.
The closure left some drivers sleeping in their cars or looking for places to stay in Squamish, while others waited on the highway overnight. Witnesses described long delays, families with children, and travellers making the best of the situation with tents, meals, and card games on the roadside.
