Greater Toronto home sales rose in June as new listings fell

Home sales in the Greater Toronto Area rose in June compared with the same month a year earlier, even as the number of new listings declined, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. A total of 6,770 homes changed hands in the region last month, up 9.4% from June 2025 and 1.4% from May on a seasonally adjusted basis. At the same time, the average selling price fell 3.9% year over year to $1,058,658, while the benchmark price dropped 5.4%. TRREB president Daniel Steinfeld said the market showed a marked improvement in the second quarter after a slow start to the year. The board expects more transactions and stronger buyer competition in the second half of 2026, which could put upward pressure on prices. New listings totaled 17,282 in June, down 12.9% from a year earlier, and total active inventory fell 13.5% to 27,329 homes across the GTA.
