Waltz rebukes Iranian diplomat at UN after Bahrain and Kuwait drone strikes
Iran UN confrontation: Waltz challenges Tehran over Bahrain and Kuwait attacks See how the Security Council clash escalated after deadly drone and missile strikes
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz confronted Iran’s envoy during a Security Council meeting after drone and missile attacks hit Bahrain and Kuwait.
Waltz said Iran should not try to shut down the council’s criticism and argued that the victims and images shown in the meeting contradicted Tehran’s denials. He said the attacks followed recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian targets.
Bahrain’s foreign minister told the council that the country had faced hundreds of attacks since late February, including ballistic missiles and armed drones, and said the strikes killed three civilians and injured hundreds more. Iran’s representative rejected the accusations and said the U.S. and its allies were blaming Iran to justify unlawful aggression.
