Woman dies after fire in residential building near Quebec City

A woman in her 40s has died after a fire in a residential building in SaintAugustindeDesmaures, west of Quebec City, on Sunday morning. Fire crews were called to the 42unit building on JeanJuneau Street around 1 a.m. after reports of flames and smoke in one apartment. Firefighters found the woman unconscious inside the burning unit, gave first aid, and paramedics took her to hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries. No one else was hurt in the fire. About 40 firefighters responded, and damage was limited to the apartment where the fire started and the unit below it. Quebec City fire officials said there is no sign of foul play, and the coroner's office is investigating with help from police.
